Using 50 Ohm GigaProbes for Package Failure Analysis
Image:
Device FA IConnect impedance plot
Quickly locate Device Package Failure modes (open/short) and location in time or distance (meters/inches) using IConnect impedance profile (Z-line) function to eliminate multi-path reflection error. The Z-line waveform provides a clear view of an open or short waveform. Using the GigaProbes in the 50 ohm mode and the FA “Comparative Method” we located the open trace by comparing the suspect trace with good traces or of traces that are routed to the same location a seen in the above IConnect impedance plot.
